Magnificent Squadron held its annual summer camp from July 30 –Aug 5, 2006. Once again the Navy League of Canada Lanark Branch sponsored the camp.
Despite the hot temperatures and torrential rain falls the cadets and staff of Magnificent Squadron had a great week at Camp. Once again the summer camp was held at the Lakeview Youth Camp in Cornwall, Ontario.
The
camp saw 78 cadets and 21 staff members from all of the corps in Magnificent
squadron. The cadets were divided up into
different divisions they were Sailing, Marksman, Boatswain, First Aid, Port and
Starboard. Throughout the week on top of their courses cadets also did
canoeing, sports, and crafts. The best cadet in each division won an award at
the end of camp. They were:
|
Top Sailor |
PO1 Galbrath-Nolan |
NLCC Cataraqui |
|
Top Marksman |
PO2 Ashby |
NLCC Northumberland |
|
Top Boatswain |
LC Wozonow |
NLCC Vice Admiral Kingsmill |
|
Top First Aider |
OC Gonzalez |

Once again we ran our Best Corps Award and this year the
winning Corps was NLCC Cataraqui # 77.
There were lots of other gifts given out at the closing ceremonies and we would like to congratulate all of the winners. Job well done to all of the winners.
The camp had a couple of special visitors through out the week. They were the Commander of Ontario Division Cdr (NL) Doug Matthew who spent the Friday night with us and enjoyed seeing what the cadets had done throughout the week. We also had a visit from LCdr (NL) Roger Litwiller one of the Magnificent Squadron DSO’s.
This years summer camp was a complete success and we look forward to next years camp. Hopefully next year we will not have as much rain.
